Tyronesha Shanae Sherlock-Benton, Fayetteville, NC Crash

Fayetteville, North Carolina authorities are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred late Thursday night near the intersection of Raeford Road and the I-295 southbound ramp.

According to police reports, a 2013 Dodge Charger was traveling eastbound on Raeford Road shortly before midnight on April 24, 2026, when it attempted to take a right-hand curve onto the interstate ramp. Investigators believe the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the turn.

The driver, identified as 36-year-old Tyronesha Shanae Sherlock-Benton, lost control of the vehicle during the maneuver. The car was unable to successfully navigate the curve and left the roadway.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene at approximately 11:47 p.m., but despite rapid response efforts, Sherlock-Benton was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of her injuries.

There was one passenger in the vehicle, 26-year-old Mikayla Love Langhirt, who survived the crash. She was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and was reported to be in stable condition following treatment.

Authorities have not yet determined all contributing factors in the crash. Speed is being considered as a possible factor, and investigators are continuing to examine roadway conditions, vehicle data, and witness statements.
