A Guatemalan national living in the U.S. illegally has been charged in a shocking Fairfax County stabbing, leaving the community reeling and families searching for answers. Anibal Armando Chavarria Muy, 38, faces second-degree murder charges after authorities say he fatally stabbed a man Sunday evening, police confirmed.
Fairfax County officers responded just before 9 p.m. to a call reporting a stabbing at a residence. Upon arrival, they discovered a man with multiple stab wounds to his upper body. Emergency responders pronounced the victim deceased at the scene, marking another tragic loss in the area.
Chavarria Muy was immediately taken into custody and is being held without bond. According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), he has no alien registration number and had never been encountered by federal immigration officials. ICE sources say he entered the country as a “gotaway,” meaning his entry was not recorded, and the department had no prior record of him. Authorities have lodged a detainer with Fairfax County, ensuring federal oversight as the investigation continues.
The incident has sparked concern across the community, highlighting both the tragedy of the victim’s death and the complexities surrounding immigration enforcement. Neighbors and residents expressed shock at the violence in a normally quiet neighborhood, emphasizing the ripple effects such crimes have on families and the wider community.
