A Life of Strength and Creativity Remembered in Earlville

The Earlville, Iowa community is mourning the passing of Vicki J. Recker, 53, who died on Monday, March 23, 2026, at her home surrounded by the love of her family. After a courageous four-year battle with ALS, her passing marks the end of a journey defined not only by resilience, but also by compassion, creativity, and devotion to those she loved most.

Born on November 6, 1972, in Dyersville, Iowa, Vicki was the daughter of Von and Jean Denlinger. She built a meaningful life rooted in family, education, and service. On July 19, 1997, she married Andrew Recker, and together they built a home on their farm in 1998, where they raised their four children and created countless cherished memories.

Vicki dedicated 25 years of her life to teaching art and photography in the Western Dubuque School District. She inspired generations of students, encouraging them to explore their creativity and express themselves freely. Her passion for the arts extended beyond the classroom, as she continued painting, drawing, and capturing moments through photography throughout her life.
