CHATTANOOGA, TN — The Chattanooga Police Department is conducting a formal investigation into a fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of 19-year-old Riley on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 2:40 p.m. in the 5700 block of Highway 153 southbound. According to preliminary findings from investigators, the fatal sequence of events began when an SUV attempted to turn across the southbound lanes to enter a local parking lot.
The motorcycle operated by Riley collided with the passenger side of the turning SUV. The force of the impact was so significant that the SUV was propelled forward, subsequently striking a parked vehicle. Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene, but despite their efforts, authorities confirmed that the 19-year-old motorcyclist had sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported from the occupants of the SUV or bystanders.
The collision necessitated the temporary closure of the southbound lanes of Highway 153 for several hours. This disruption allowed the Chattanooga Police Department’s traffic division to process the scene and gather critical evidence for their ongoing review. The roadway has since been fully reopened to traffic flow.
At this time, authorities have not released further details regarding potential charges or specific contributing factors such as speed or visibility. As the news of the tragedy spreads, the Chattanooga community has come together to support the grieving family. Friends and loved ones are remembering Riley as a young individual whose life was taken far too soon, leaving a deep void in the hearts of all who knew them. The investigation remains active as officials work to finalize the accident report.
