Top Chef’ Winner Kelsey Clark Arrested for DUI in Dothan

Kelsey Barnard Clark, the acclaimed winner of Top Chef season 16 and owner of KBC restaurant in Dothan, Alabama, was arrested on a DUI charge late Wednesday night after crashing her vehicle into a mailbox on Selkirk Drive. The incident has raised eyebrows, as Clark, who is known for her culinary prowess and southern charm, now faces legal consequences.

According to Dothan Police, officers responded to the scene at around 9 p.m. and found Clark exhibiting clear signs of impairment. Lt. Scott Owens confirmed that law enforcement detected a strong odor of alcohol and that Clark performed poorly on field sobriety tests, such as walking a straight line and standing on one foot. These signs led to her arrest for driving under the influence.

At the time of the crash, Clark had her two young children in the vehicle. However, authorities allowed the children to leave with a family member unharmed. Clark, 35, was taken into custody and booked at Dothan City Jail. She was released after posting a $500 bond.

Kelsey Clark gained national recognition when she made history as the first Southern chef to win Top Chef in 2019. Since then, she has been a well-known figure in the culinary world, authoring cookbooks like Southern Grit and serving as a judge on Netflix’s Next Gen Chef. Her reputation as a chef and media personality has made this arrest particularly shocking to her fans and the Dothan community.

A court date is pending, and Clark has yet to make a public statement regarding the incident.
