A violent shooting in St. Louis, Missouri, on Friday afternoon has left a 21-year-old man in critical condition and led to the arrest of two suspects. Authorities confirmed that the incident occurred in the 1300 block of Belt Street shortly after 1 p.m., prompting a rapid response from District 5 officers.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers arrived at the scene and immediately encountered two men fleeing the area. Both individuals were taken into custody without further incident. Shortly afterward, officers located a 21-year-old male victim suffering from severe gunshot wounds. Emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
Investigators later determined that the shooting may have been witnessed by someone who was with the victim at the time of the incident. According to police reports, the witness stated that the victim recognized the two suspects—identified as Cornelious Coleman, 20, and Amorion Bland, 21—and warned her to run before the gunfire began. The witness then reportedly identified both suspects to authorities.
Court records show that Coleman and Bland have each been charged with armed criminal action and first-degree assault or attempted murder. Police say the victim was struck in the head during the shooting, making the injuries life-threatening.
The case has now been handed over to homicide detectives as investigators work to reconstruct the events leading up to the attack. Authorities have not yet released a motive, and the investigation remains ongoing.
