Authorities in Wildwood, Missouri are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Wednesday evening following a reported domestic disturbance. The incident has drawn attention as officials work to determine the full sequence of events that led to the use of force.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department, officers from the City of Wildwood Precinct responded to a call at approximately 7:53 p.m. in the 18700 block of Wild Horse Farm Court. Upon arrival, officers encountered a man standing in the front yard of a residence who was reportedly armed with a weapon.

Police say an altercation occurred between the responding officers and the individual. During the confrontation, an officer discharged their firearm, striking the man. The suspect was immediately provided medical attention and transported to a nearby hospital.

Authorities confirmed that the man’s injuries were not considered life-threatening. No officers were injured during the incident.

The officer involved in the shooting is identified as a 32-year-old with approximately 10 years of law enforcement experience. As is standard procedure in such cases, the incident is being reviewed by the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons.

Officials have not released additional details regarding the nature of the domestic disturbance call or the specific actions that led to the escalation. The investigation remains active as detectives gather evidence and interview witnesses.
