According to the St. Louis County Police Department, officers responded shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Sunday to reports of a pedestrian struck near the intersection of Gravois Road and Cinnabar Drive. When authorities arrived, they found Charles lying in the eastbound lanes with critical injuries. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital but later died as a result of his injuries.

Preliminary findings from investigators suggest that Charles ran into the roadway before being struck by a pickup truck. The driver remained at the scene, called 911, and has been cooperating fully with authorities as the investigation continues.
