It is with profound sadness that the St. Louis community mourns the tragic death of 3-year-old Tarvis Phenix III, who died after falling from an 11th-floor apartment window in south St. Louis. His sudden passing has left family members and loved ones devastated.
According to authorities, the incident occurred in the early morning hours of April 10. Police reported that the child was under the care of his father, Tarvis Phenix Jr., at the time of the tragedy. Investigators say the father left the apartment shortly before midnight and returned roughly an hour later, only to discover his son was missing.
Preliminary findings indicate that young Tarvis was able to leave the apartment and wander the hallway before entering an area near an open window. Reports state that he climbed onto a bench, then onto the window ledge, before falling from the 11th floor.
Emergency responders later found the child on the ground outside the building. Despite immediate efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following an investigation, Tarvis Phenix Jr. was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and taken into custody. He is currently being held without bond as the case proceeds through the legal system.
Family members have described little Tarvis—affectionately known as “T3”—as a bright, joyful child with a strong personality and a natural curiosity about the world around him. Loved ones say he brought happiness into their lives and was deeply cherished by those who knew him.
