OMAHA, Neb. — Authorities responded to a serious incident at a Walmart located near 72nd and Pine Streets in Omaha, Nebraska, after receiving an emergency call requesting police assistance, according to officials.
Omaha Police Department representatives confirmed that officers arrived at the scene around 9:20 a.m. and encountered a critical situation involving a suspect and a child. Officers immediately issued verbal commands while assessing the threat and working to secure the area.
According to investigators, the situation unfolded rapidly outside the store, prompting law enforcement intervention. Officers took action during the encounter, and the suspect was later pronounced deceased at the scene. Officials have not released further identifying information as the investigation remains ongoing.
Emergency medical personnel transported the child to a local hospital, where they are receiving treatment for injuries. Authorities stated that the child is expected to survive.
