It is with profound sadness that we report the tragic death of 29-year-old Denisha Delancy, a Miami resident, who was killed in Sint Maarten on March 2. Authorities believe the shooting, which also claimed the life of Trinidadian national Quincy Damon Sylvester, was a targeted attack on Sylvester, with Denisha tragically caught in the crossfire.
The double shooting occurred shortly after the two left a nightclub on Arlet Peters Road. Surveillance footage indicated the assailants were tracking Sylvester, suggesting the attack was premeditated. Denisha, who had no known criminal connections, was likely an unintended victim. Both she and Sylvester were pronounced dead at the scene.
Denisha had traveled to Sint Maarten with her sister and friends to celebrate a birthday, enjoying the beaches, nightlife, and local culture before the tragedy struck. Her life was full of promise, and her loss has left family, friends, and the Miami community in deep mourning.
