It is with profound sorrow that we report the tragic death of seven-year-old Angelica Saydee Jogie from Barrackpore, who lost her life in a jet ski accident at Pigeon Point, Tobago, on Wednesday evening. Angelica, a student at San Fernando TML Primary School, was enjoying a family outing when the tragedy occurred shortly before 5 p.m.
According to relatives, Angelica was inside the designated bathing area near the perimeter ropes when a jet ski broke through the barrier and struck the family. Her uncle, Darren Jogie, explained that he and other family members were also hit, but Angelica bore the brunt of the impact. Emergency responders and family members administered CPR on the shore before she was transported to the hospital, where she later passed away.
The tragic incident has left the Tobago community heartbroken. Witnesses and social media users expressed outrage over the lack of adequate safety measures, calling for stricter regulation and enforcement for watercraft near popular bathing areas. Angelica’s death has reignited concerns about beach safety, particularly as the island experiences increased tourism.
