Naples, FL – A tragic wrong-way crash on I-75 that claimed a life has led to the arrest of 30-year-old Taylor, a Naples woman charged with DUI manslaughter. The shockwaves of this incident have only deepened after it was revealed that Taylor was pulled over for speeding earlier that same morning—just hours before the fatal crash.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to WINK News that Taylor’s vehicle was stopped by a deputy before the crash, sparking questions about why she was allowed to continue driving afterward. An internal investigation has been launched to determine the details surrounding the traffic stop, including the time and location of the stop, whether the deputy suspected she had been drinking, and if she was asked to perform a field sobriety test.
The crash occurred later that day when Taylor’s car was driving the wrong way on I-75, colliding head-on with another vehicle. Tragically, the other driver did not survive. Taylor, who was arrested and booked into jail on charges of DUI manslaughter, is being held without bond as the investigation continues.
“This is heartbreaking for everyone involved,” said a local resident. “It’s hard to understand how someone could be given a second chance to drive after being pulled over earlier.”
