The close-knit lakeside community of Bobcaygeon, Ontario, and the wider City of Kawartha Lakes region are draped in a heavy blanket of profound sorrow and intense heartbreak following the tragic passing of Ryan Musson. The exceptional teenager left this world unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, after losing a grueling fight for survival following a catastrophic two-vehicle car accident on Saturday evening, May 30, 2026. The devastating collision had already claimed the life of his beloved 16-year-old girlfriend, Briannah “Bri” Sabovitch. Ryan’s subsequent passing has left his loving parents, siblings, classmates, and teammates completely shattered as they navigate an unimaginable double tragedy.

According to official emergency response reports from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the high-impact collision occurred at the rural intersection of County Road 49 and Burys Green Road. First responders arrived to find wreckage from a severe T-bone collision, which instantly killed Briannah. Ryan was critically injured at the scene and immediately airlifted by an Ornge air ambulance to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto. Despite undergoing several days of intensive operations and receiving elite clinical care from trauma specialists, Ryan succumbed to his severe head and internal injuries.

Ryan was a deeply loved student and athlete within the Fenelon Township Public School network, remembered fondly for his warm heart, remarkable character, and a room-brightening smile. Over the past several days, local families had organized massive community prayer vigils, holding onto hope for a medical miracle. As his grieving relatives prepare for a joint celebration of life service alongside Briannah’s family, the community is vowing to support the surviving parents through this dark hour.
