HAZARD, KY — The close-knit Appalachian community of Hazard and the broader region of Perry County are joined in a state of profound shock and heavyhearted mourning following the sudden passing of Tiffany Tapio Taulbee, whose tragic death occurred on Sunday, May 31, 2026. A deeply cherished 39-year-old resident, devoted wife, and nurturing mother of five, Taulbee peacefully passed away while receiving comfort treatment at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center. Her unexpected departure has left an immeasurable emotional void in the hearts of her immediate family, lifelong friends, and church neighbors.
Taulbee’s everyday life was deeply rooted in an unwavering foundation of love, spiritual faith, and family devotion. She spent her formative years in the region, building a life centered on the simple joys of motherhood, caring for her beloved household pets, and actively participating in her local congregation. Her Christian faith guided her character, shaping the genuine kindness and compassion she extended to everyone she met. Above all else, her five children—Connor, Ryan, Wyatt, Haley, and Skylar—were the center of her universe, and she poured her entire soul into raising them with strength and steadfast support alongside her devoted husband, James Taulbee.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Alvin Tapio and Loretta King Tapio Salyers. Taulbee leaves behind a sprawling, heartbroken network of surviving relatives, including her stepfather Billy Ray Salyers, four siblings, her sister-in-law, and nine nieces and nephews who will forever treasure her memory.
Family and friends will gather to honor Tiffany’s legacy at Maggard’s Mountain View Chapel on Friday, June 5, 2026. Public visitation hours will be observed from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a formal funeral service immediately following at 1:00 PM, officiated by Ministers Ruth Jackson and Donald Tapio. She will be laid to rest with a traditional burial service at the Salyers Family Cemetery in Hazard, Kentucky.
