The community of Clinton, Mississippi, is locked in profound grief following the sudden and heartbreaking passing of 17-year-old Ashlee Jane Sumrall. Born on June 29, 2008, in nearby Jackson, Ashlee’s exceptionally bright life came to an unexpected end on Saturday, May 30, 2026, just weeks after celebrating her graduation from Clinton High School. News of her passing has sent a wave of shock throughout Hinds County, prompting an outpouring of love and support for her devoted parents, Jason and Alyson Sumrall, her sister, Abby, and her extended family as they face this unimaginable loss.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Ashlee describe her as a beautiful ray of light, kindness, and positivity who genuinely embodied the fruits of the Spirit. Known affectionately to friends and coworkers as “Ash,” she was a gifted artist and musician who spent seven years as a dedicated member of the Clinton Band program and six years competing on the Clinton Arrows Swim Team. An ambitious young woman, she successfully launched her own business, Charmed Arts, in 2025 and was preparing to enter the Mississippi College School of Business this upcoming fall. Ashlee also found immense joy in her faith, routinely dedicating her time to helping and caring for the young children at her local church.
While her family has requested privacy regarding the specific medical circumstances surrounding her sudden departure, they are inviting the community to join them in a celebration of her life on Wednesday, June 3rd, at Wildwood Baptist Church. In honor of her lasting impression and dedicated spirit, a memorial scholarship fund is being established to support the Clinton Band program. Ashlee Sumrall will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
