A tense verbal dispute rapidly deteriorated into gunfire outside the Montgomery County Courthouse in Clarksville, Tennessee, resulting in two individuals sustaining injuries and the immediate arrest of a controversial online personality. The shocking incident, which took place in the Millennium Plaza area just outside the government facility, prompted a swift and heavy response from local law enforcement to secure the scene.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the violent encounter began as a physical altercation that quickly escalated to gunfire. The primary suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Dalton Eatherly, known widely on social media platforms as “ChudTheBuilder.” Authorities report that Eatherly was at the courthouse for a scheduled civil debt hearing when he engaged in a confrontation with another man, which witnesses allege involved highly offensive racial slurs. The verbal exchange turned physical when the other individual punched Eatherly, who then allegedly produced a firearm and began shooting.
During the chaotic exchange of gunfire, Eatherly sustained a self-inflicted graze wound to his arm, while the other man was struck by standard bullets. Emergency responders arrived within minutes to provide medical aid. Eatherly was transported to Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital, while the second individual was flown via LifeFlight helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Both men were listed in stable condition following emergency treatment.
Deputies successfully detained Eatherly at the scene. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has since charged him with multiple severe offenses, including attempted murder, employing a firearm during a dangerous felony, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. He is currently being held at the Montgomery County Jail awaiting his formal arraignment hearing. Meanwhile, detectives are actively reviewing courthouse surveillance footage and interviewing eyewitnesses to finalize the official timeline of the shooting.
