WASHINGTON, ILLINOIS — The community is mourning the loss of Janice “Jan” Nagel, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and woman of deep faith, who passed away peacefully at her home on April 12, 2026, at the age of 82 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jan’s life was defined by love, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. Born into a large and close-knit family, she carried those strong values throughout her life, always placing family at the center of everything she did. Her marriage to her husband, David, spanned more than six decades, a partnership rooted in devotion, friendship, and enduring love.
As a mother of four and grandmother of fourteen, Jan found her greatest joy in the presence of her family. She created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and support, leaving lasting memories for generations to come. Her role as “Mom-Mom” was especially treasured, as she poured love and care into each of her grandchildren.
Professionally, Jan dedicated many years to both education and her family business. From her early days as a teacher to her long career at Nagel Farm Service, she was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and commitment to serving others.
Above all, Jan’s faith in Jesus Christ guided her life. She was a devoted member of her church and actively participated in ministry, touching countless lives through her service, teaching, and encouragement.
