High-Speed Chase Ends in Fiery Tragedy at Travis Base

A high-speed police chase ended in a wall of fire just outside the gates of Travis Air Force Base, leaving two men dead in a harrowing scene. The drama began shortly after midnight when a Mercedes driver refused to stop for Napa County deputies. What followed was a reckless, 120 mph flight that wove through roads toward Solano County, terrifying anyone who witnessed it.

The vehicle ultimately lost control at the base entrance, crashing into a barrier and erupting into flames. Deputies attempted to extinguish the fire, but the heat was too intense. Inside, 28-year-old driver John Earl Newton III and 30-year-old passenger Taevion Knox tragically perished, unreachable and overcome by the blaze. Their deaths marked a heartbreaking end to a night of chaos.

Investigators from the Solano County Major Crimes Task Force are now combing through evidence, working to determine why the chase occurred in the first place. Officials have not disclosed the reason for the initial stop, leaving unanswered questions about what drove these two men to take such extreme risks.
