A young Greenwood man lost his life in a tragic double-collision that has left family, friends, and the local community in shock. Seth Hodgkins, 20, of Greenwood, was fatally struck twice at the same intersection on Monday night, ending the life of a dedicated EMT whose kindness and bravery touched all who knew him.
According to authorities, the crash occurred at the intersection of Route 85 and Tarkiln Hill Road in Raymond, Maine. The first impact happened when a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Seth Thayer attempted a left turn, colliding with Hodgkins’ northbound motorcycle. The force of the impact sent Hodgkins into the path of an oncoming 2015 GMC Terrain, driven by Christopher Akers. Emergency responders declared him dead at the scene. Investigators confirmed that Hodgkins’ helmet was on and that alcohol was not a factor.
Seth was more than a young man with a promising life ahead; he was a calm, dependable EMT at Buckfield Fire Rescue. Colleagues remember him as someone who faced emergencies with poise, always ready to help others, often putting their needs above his own. “He was calm under pressure, reliable, and genuinely cared about every patient he encountered,” said one coworker.
