He Took an Uber Home, Then Suddenly Disappeared Forever

What began as a normal night out ended in heartbreak and unanswered questions after 44-year-old Thomas Simpkins vanished without a trace—only to be found days later under deeply troubling circumstances. A father from Santa Clara, Thomas had simply left a Super Bowl gathering on the evening of February 8, doing what many would consider routine: heading home.

He was last seen around 9:30 p.m. near Pruneridge Avenue and Lawrence Expressway, where he reportedly took an Uber home. He even sent a text message to his family, a small reassurance that everything was fine. Then, suddenly—nothing. No calls, no messages, no signs of distress. His silence became alarming when he failed to show up for work the following day.

Days passed before the devastating discovery. On February 14, at around 2:30 p.m., Thomas’s body was found face-down in San Tomas Aquino Creek. What makes the situation even more unsettling is how his family learned about it—a stranger sent his sister police scanner audio on social media, leading her to the horrifying realization.

Authorities confirmed that his phone and wallet were missing when he was found, raising even more questions about what may have happened in those final hours. As of now, no official cause of death has been determined, and investigators are still working to piece together the timeline.
