The tragedy unfolded around 9:05 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, in Sawbridgeworth, when a blue Ford Fiesta veered off Redricks Lane, struck a tree, and came to rest back in the roadway.
Megan, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other teenage girls suffered serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital, where they continue to receive treatment.
