A tragic update has emerged following a deadly head-on crash in Deerpark that has left one man dead and several others injured. Authorities have now identified the victim as 76-year-old John J. Desomma, whose life was cut short after a devastating collision on Monday.
According to State Police, the accident occurred along Routes 42 and 97 when a vehicle driven by a 76-year-old Warwick woman, Patricia A. Desomma, crossed into oncoming traffic. The vehicle collided head-on with another car, resulting in a violent impact that immediately prompted an emergency response.
First responders arrived quickly and worked tirelessly at the scene. John J. Desomma, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was pulled from the wreckage and given life-saving measures on-site. Despite those efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, leaving behind grieving loved ones and a community in shock.
Patricia A. Desomma was transported to Garnet Health with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The driver of the other vehicle, a 36-year-old woman from Sparrowbush, was also hospitalized and is expected to recover.
