Racing World Heartbroken After Loss of Rising Star Sir Gino

The horse racing world is mourning the devastating loss of Sir Gino, a rising star whose life and career were cut tragically short at just six years old. Trainer Nicky Henderson confirmed the heartbreaking news, describing the talented gelding as “unforgettable” and a horse destined for greatness.

Sir Gino had quickly become one of the most exciting prospects in the sport, known for his remarkable ability over hurdles and fences. With an impressive record of seven wins from eight races, often by commanding margins, he had already captured the attention and admiration of racing fans and experts alike. Many believed he was on track to become a dominant force in future competitions.

His journey, however, was not without challenges. Earlier this year, Sir Gino suffered a fractured pelvis following a run at Cheltenham, forcing him out of what was expected to be a major appearance at the prestigious Cheltenham Festival. While undergoing treatment for the injury, he developed severe infections that ultimately proved too much to overcome.

This marked the second consecutive year his season had been disrupted by injury. In a previous setback, he had battled a serious ligament infection that sidelined him for nearly a year. Despite that, Sir Gino made a remarkable comeback, returning to racing and securing a triumphant victory on Boxing Day 2025—a testament to his resilience and spirit.
