ALBANY, GA – A tragic drag racing incident on Saturday night has left a 26-year-old man and a 4-year-old child dead, along with two others injured, according to the Albany Police Department. The crash occurred around 9:41 p.m. on March 21, 2026, in the 1900 block of Krug Street, turning what began as reckless driving into a devastating loss for multiple families.
Authorities say the crash involved vehicles engaged in drag racing when one driver lost control and struck a group of vehicles. The impact resulted in fatal injuries to Rickey Thomas, 26, and a young child. Two additional victims were transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to recover.
Police identified 24-year-old Brandon King as one of the drivers involved. Another driver, 25-year-old Jacob Daniels Jr., initially fled the scene but later returned and was taken into custody. Both individuals now face serious charges connected to the incident.
According to jail records, King has been charged with two counts of homicide by vehicle in the first degree, reckless driving, and racing on a highway.
