St. Paul Shooting, St. Paul, MN – No Ongoing Threat Confirmed After Downtown Incident

Authorities in St. Paul, Minnesota, have lifted a temporary lockdown in the downtown area following a shooting that disrupted a graduation-related gathering near the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts. The incident prompted a rapid emergency response and caused significant alarm among attendees and nearby residents.

According to preliminary reports, gunfire erupted during what appeared to be a public celebration in the area. At least one individual was struck and immediately transported to a nearby hospital by emergency responders. Officials have not yet released updates on the victim’s condition.

Law enforcement initially responded as though the situation could involve an active shooter, leading to an immediate lockdown of surrounding public spaces. Areas including Rice Park and the vicinity of the Roy Wilkins Auditorium were secured while officers conducted a full sweep of the downtown district.

Witnesses described a heavy police presence and rapid evacuation of portions of the area as authorities worked to ensure public safety. The event is believed to have been connected to a graduation celebration, though officials have not confirmed whether it was formally associated with Metropolitan State University or another local institution.

At this stage, investigators have not confirmed whether a suspect has been identified or detained. Authorities are actively reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses to determine the sequence of events that led to the shooting.

The lockdown was later lifted after police confirmed there was no ongoing threat to the public. However, the incident left many attendees shaken, as a moment of celebration quickly turned into confusion and fear.

Officials are asking the public to provide any photos, videos, or information that may assist in the investigation as efforts continue to understand what occurred and ensure accountability.
