A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded near the Wyoming-Idaho state line on Wednesday morning, January 21, 2026, when 43-year-old Christopher Moon fatally shot his 23-year-old wife, Cassandra “Cassie” Clinger, before turning the gun on himself. The chilling event took place on a rural road in Bonneville County, Idaho, leaving their three young children unharmed but forever scarred by the devastating loss.

At around 8:06 a.m., Moon called 911 from Jackknife Road, telling dispatchers that he had shot his wife and intended to end his own life. Deputies rushed to the scene and found two vehicles parked on the roadside. They briefly spoke with Moon by phone, urging him to surrender peacefully. Unfortunately, moments later, they heard a gunshot, and both Moon and Clinger were found dead at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds.
