A devastating tragedy struck in June 2024 when Katie Worrell, 25, and Adam Muskett, 27, lost their lives in a horrific car crash caused by Alexander MacCallum, 28. The young couple, described by family and friends as “fun-loving” and full of life, were driving in a black Ford Fiesta when MacCallum’s Jaguar XKR veered onto the wrong side of the road, colliding with them on a wet and winding stretch.
Witnesses recalled seeing the car “all over the place” before a terrifying “loud bang” echoed as the collision occurred. Shockingly, MacCallum was later seen taking pictures of his mangled car while Katie and Adam lay fatally injured on the road. Police later learned that MacCallum had only owned the Jaguar for two months and admitted he had never driven a car with such powerful performance before.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of causing death by careless driving but avoided jail, receiving an 18-month sentence suspended for 12 months. This outcome has left the community and the families grappling with a deep sense of injustice, as two vibrant lives were abruptly taken.
