Riverdale, Georgia — A quiet Wednesday evening turned into heartbreak for local families and residents when a 44-year-old man was found shot to death in a pickup truck at the Emerald Pointe Apartments on Roberts Drive on January 21, 2026.

Law enforcement responding to the scene just before 6 p.m. discovered the man’s lifeless body in his vehicle in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Witnesses told police they saw two young males, believed to be between 17 and 20 years old, flee the area immediately after gunfire erupted. One was described wearing a white hoodie, and the other wore a colorful polka-dot jacket. Despite searching the area, officers were unable to locate the suspects.

The Riverdale Police Department, alongside the Clayton County Police Department and the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, has launched a full investigation. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name or motive, pending family notification and further investigation, and it remains unclear if he was specifically targeted or a bystander to the violence.
