A miraculous escape has left a family overwhelmed with gratitude after Luke, a local teen, walked away from a terrifying accident with only minor injuries. The incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. last night when Luke, reportedly dozing off while driving, ran off the road and his truck flipped twice just before Friendship Road, near his home.
Despite the severity of the crash, Luke managed to exit the vehicle and call his mother, saying simply, “Mama, I wrecked.” His mother, instantly recognizing his location as near their church, rushed to the scene along with family friend Nathan, both filled with fear and panic as memories of a previous accident came rushing back.
Neighbors Megan and Shorty, who were driving ahead, witnessed the truck leaving the road. They stayed with Luke, helped recover items that flew from the vehicle, and ensured he was safe until the rescue squad arrived. Their quick thinking and presence of mind were credited with providing immediate assistance and comfort.
Emergency responders, including the local rescue squad, EMTs, and staff at Union General Hospital, treated Luke for minor cuts, scrapes, and a mild concussion. Comprehensive CT scans of his head, spine, abdomen, and pelvis all came back clear
