A young life ended too soon in Douglas County tragedy

Douglas County is mourning the loss of Patience Price, an 18-year-old senior at Chapel Hill High School, who was tragically killed in a high-speed crash early on March 28. What should have been another ordinary morning turned devastating in an instant, leaving family, friends, and classmates grappling with grief and shock.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, troopers responded to the single-car crash around 3:36 a.m. on Chapel Hill Road near Rosemont Drive. Preliminary reports indicate that the vehicle, a Mercedes, was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control while navigating a curve. The car left the roadway, struck an embankment, became airborne, and overturned multiple times. Patience, seated in the front passenger seat, was likely not wearing a seat belt and was tragically ejected from the vehicle, succumbing to her injuries at the scene.

The driver sustained minor injuries, while a back-seat passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries. Investigators confirmed the driver showed no signs of impairment, and the state patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
