Waynesboro lost a beloved community leader as Major Jason “Spot” Perdieu passed away, leaving a lasting legacy of service, faith, and friendship. Known for his tireless dedication to the Salvation Army and local projects, Major Perdieu inspired countless volunteers, parishioners, and friends throughout his career.
As a former Salvation Army Captain and later Major, Perdieu’s commitment to service was evident in every initiative he led. Residents recall his presence at the annual Red Kettle Bell Ringing, where he not only supported volunteers but also spent hours ringing the bell himself—52 hours in 2017 alone—demonstrating his dedication to helping others. His efforts raised both funds and spirits, leaving a mark that extended far beyond Waynesboro.
Perdieu’s impact wasn’t limited to his hometown. After being assigned to a new station in Arkansas, he maintained strong connections with friends and colleagues in Waynesboro, often sharing updates through social media or visiting whenever possible. Friends remember him as someone who combined genuine warmth with unwavering leadership, always encouraging others to give their best while staying humble.
Gregory Bruno, a fellow member of the Waynesboro Rotary Club, recalled countless memories with Major Perdieu, describing him as an inspiring figure whose presence brought people together. “Major Perdieu left a trail of good memories, support of the community, friendships, and inspiration. He will be missed,” Bruno said.
