Tragedy in Rickmansworth: Police Appeal After Fatal Crash

A quiet afternoon in Rickmansworth turned into a scene of tragedy after a fatal road traffic collision claimed the life of a woman in her 90s. Now, police are urgently appealing for witnesses, information, and dash cam footage as they work to piece together exactly what happened.

The incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, on White Hill near Mount Vernon Hospital. Emergency services, including fire crews, ambulance teams, and an air ambulance, rushed to the scene following reports of a serious collision involving a silver Kia Picanto and a grey BMW 118i M Sport.

Despite the swift response, the elderly passenger in the Kia was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been informed and is currently being supported by specially trained officers during this incredibly difficult time.

The driver of the Kia, a woman in her 60s, sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital, where she remains under medical care. The severity of her condition highlights the devastating impact of the crash.

A 22-year-old man from Watford was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury, driving over the legal limit of a specified drug, and possession of cannabis. He was also taken to hospital and remains under arrest while investigations continue.
