Queensland, AU – A chilling confession and the disappearance of young Kelly Anne continue to haunt her family as they fight to keep her killer, John William Bennett, behind bars. In a shocking interview with police, Bennett admitted, “I killed her,” after the tragic death of Kelly, just before her fourth birthday in 1989.
Bennett’s confession detailed how he left Kelly’s lifeless body in a hessian bag at a rubbish dump. However, due to being intoxicated at the time, Bennett could not remember the exact location of the dump, leaving authorities and the family without closure. Major land searches were conducted in the area at the time, but Kelly’s body has never been found. The mystery of her final resting place remains one of Queensland’s most heartbreaking unsolved cases.
In June 1990, Bennett was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the heinous crime. Over the years, he has applied for parole several times, citing failing health and requesting a medical exemption. The wheelchair-bound inmate’s applications have sparked fierce opposition, with online petitions circulating to prevent his release.
Kelly’s mother, Ms. Jones, remains adamant that Bennett should never be released. “People like this should never be released. An eye for an eye, a life for a life,” she said in an emotional statement.
