High-Speed Crash on Niagara Falls’ Highland Avenue Leaves Driver in Critical Condition

Niagara Falls, NY – A high-speed crash late Saturday night on Highland Avenue has left a man in his 40s in critical condition and caused significant damage to a building. The incident unfolded around 11:30 p.m. on March 21, 2026, when Niagara Falls Police, Fire, and AMR were dispatched to the scene near the intersection of Highland Avenue and Fairfield Avenue.

First responders arrived to find a BMW that had lost control while traveling southbound on Highland Avenue. The vehicle, reportedly speeding, veered off the road in the 2600 block, rolled over, and crashed into the north side of a building at 2601 Highland Avenue. The building was heavily damaged, and a gas line was ruptured, causing a dangerous leak. National Fuel crews quickly responded and were able to secure the gas line to prevent further risk.

The driver, a man in his 40s, was found unresponsive at the scene. Firefighters and emergency medical personnel immediately began life-saving efforts before rushing him to the hospital. His injuries were described as life-threatening.

Witnesses have reported seeing the BMW speeding moments before the crash, though the cause of the accident remains under investigation. Authorities have not yet revealed whether alcohol or other factors contributed to the incident.
