Armed Standoff in Dallas Ends in Fatal Shooting Involving Security Guard

An armed standoff in Dallas has ended in a fatal shooting involving Mike King, a security guard who had reportedly worked for U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett. Authorities say the confrontation occurred after police attempted to arrest King on an active warrant.

According to reports from CBS News Texas and law enforcement sources, the situation began when officers with the Dallas Police Department attempted to take King into custody. The warrant was related to allegations that he had been impersonating a law enforcement officer while operating an off-duty police placement service.

Police say King fled the area and drove into a hospital parking garage, where he barricaded himself inside a vehicle. Officers quickly secured the area and called in the Dallas SWAT team to manage the standoff.

Authorities reported that negotiators attempted to bring the situation to a peaceful resolution. When those efforts failed, tactical units deployed tear gas in an effort to force King out of the vehicle. According to law enforcement accounts, King then exited the vehicle and pulled a firearm on officers, prompting SWAT personnel to open fire.

King was fatally shot at the scene. Officials have not yet released additional details about the exact sequence of events during the final moments of the confrontation.

The incident has drawn attention because King had reportedly been associated with Representative Crockettโ€™s security team. Both Crockettโ€™s office and the Dallas Police Department declined to comment further when contacted following the shooting.
