With deep sorrow and heartfelt remembrance, family and friends announce the passing of Robert A. “Bobby” Moore, 71, of Manchester, who peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Bobby was born on February 4, 1955, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to the late Ralph and Mary (Kinsella) Moore.
From a young age, Bobby displayed exceptional talent and determination. A 1973 graduate of Medford High School, he was an outstanding athlete who excelled in both football and track. During his senior year, he earned the honor of playing in the Harry Agganis All-Star Football Game, recognizing his remarkable athletic ability. His impact on the field was so significant that in 2012 he was inducted into the Medford Mustang Hall of Fame, a testament to the legacy he left behind in high school sports.
After graduating, Bobby attended St. Thomas More Preparatory School in Montville, Connecticut, before continuing his education at Boston College on a full football scholarship. As a versatile defensive lineman for the Eagles, Bobby stood out for both his skill and leadership. He was named one of the team’s Tri-Captains during his senior year and was selected to play in the prestigious Blue-Grey All-Star Game. Remarkably, Bobby was the first player in Boston College football history to start every game from freshman through senior year.
Following his athletic career, Bobby dedicated himself to serving others through law enforcement. In 1978, he joined the Manchester Police Department, where he built a respected and decorated career. Beginning as a patrolman and later becoming a detective, he spent many years working as an undercover narcotics officer before rising to the rank of Sergeant. From 1994 to 2011, he supervised the Special Investigation Unit for Drug Enforcement, earning numerous awards for his courage and dedication.
