Deadly Shooting Rocks San Antonio Apartment Complex: Police Investigate

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are investigating a deadly shooting at The New Horizon Apartments on the Northeast Side, which left a 19-year-old man dead. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning, shocking residents and raising concerns about safety in the complex.

Officers were first dispatched around 9 p.m. Tuesday to the 4800 block of Goldfield Drive, near Loop 410 and Rittiman Road, after a 911 caller reported hearing “several gunshots” that struck their windows and walls. At that time, no injuries were reported, and no suspect was located.

A second 911 call came in just before 7 a.m. Wednesday, prompting another police response. Upon arrival, officers discovered bullet holes on the exterior of an apartment unit. When entering the unit, investigators found a 19-year-old man lying on the living room floor. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities confirmed that no other injuries were reported, though one resident described a bullet penetrating her wall and landing in her teenage daughter’s bedroom. Fortunately, the girl was unharmed, and the bullet was found in one of her shoes.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the victim’s exact time of death, while the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) continues its investigation. As of now, no arrests have been made, and detectives are actively searching for leads and speaking with witnesses to piece together what happened.

Residents of the apartment complex are understandably shaken. The incident underscores the dangers of gun violence in residential areas and has prompted renewed calls for safety measures. SAPD urges anyone with information about the shooting to come forward to aid the investigation.
