A Legacy of Heart and Leadership: Honoring the Life of Marc Luc Deveau

The communities of Aylesford and Meteghan are mourning the loss of Marc Luc Deveau, who passed away on March 8, 2026, at the age of 41. Surrounded by his loved ones at Valley Regional Hospital, Marc concluded a courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, intellect, and profound dedication to his family and his province.

Marc was a pillar of French-language education in Nova Scotia. A proud alumnus of Universitรฉ Sainte-Anne, he dedicated his career to the Conseil Scolaire Acadien Provincial (CSAP). From his early days as a beloved science and math teacher at ร‰cole secondaire de Clare to his final role as Director of Learning and Inclusive Services, Marc was a visionary leader. He mentored countless educators and championed student success with a commitment to innovation and inclusion that will be felt for generations.

Beyond his professional accolades, Marc was defined by his zest for life. Whether he was sharply dressed for an event, exploring new restaurants, or traveling with his family, he approached every day with curiosity and a signature laugh. He was a natural listener and a steady presenceโ€”the kind of man people instinctively turned to for guidance and kindness.

Sports were Marc’s second language. An avid hockey player and golfer, he found immense joy on the ice in Berwick and Clare and on the greens with his closest friends and family. He believed in playing with heart and hustle, values he instilled in his children, Ruby and Levi.

Marc is survived by his devoted wife, Virginia; his children; his mother, Pamela; and a large, loving extended family. While his time was far too short, the mark he left on the Acadian and Francophone community is indelible. He will be remembered not just for what he achieved, but for the steady, compassionate way he lived.
