A routine workday turned into a terrifying scene in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, when a utility bucket truck suddenly erupted into flames while a lineman was still inside the elevated bucket. The shocking incident unfolded around noon at the busy intersection of Evangeline Street and North Foster Drive, leaving witnesses stunned and scrambling to understand what they were seeing.

The worker, identified as Bevan Dupre, had been performing electrical line work when the aerial bucket he was standing in suddenly caught fire. Positioned more than twenty feet above the ground and secured by a safety harness, Dupre had almost no time to react as flames quickly surrounded the bucket. What began as an ordinary job site instantly became a life-threatening situation.

Bystanders nearby began recording as the dramatic scene unfolded. Video circulating online shows the bucket engulfed in flames while Dupre remained suspended high above the street. With the fire spreading rapidly and no clear escape route, he found himself trapped in a desperate moment where every second mattered.

Still attached to his harness and with the flames growing more intense, Dupre ultimately made the only decision he could. Witnesses say he released himself and fell from the bucket, dropping more than twenty feet onto the pavement below.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene and transported him to a nearby hospital. According to his wife, Nicole Dupre, he survived the ordeal, something she described as nothing short of a miracle. However, he sustained severe burn injuries along with trauma from the fall and has already undergone multiple surgeries. He remains in a specialized burn unit and faces a long road to recovery.
