In Loving Memory of Jorge Arturo Gonzalez Jr.: Harris County Mourns a Beloved Son, Father, and Friend


The Harris County community is grieving the tragic loss of Jorge Arturo Gonzalez Jr., 33, of Channelview, Texas, who was fatally shot on January 28, 2026. His untimely passing has left a profound void in the hearts of family, friends, and all who were touched by his warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit.

Authorities confirmed that Joseph Plattenburg (b. August 7, 1984) and Jordyn Wells (b. March 18, 1998) were taken into custody in connection with Jorgeโ€™s death. Investigators allege that the shooting occurred during a dispute involving money. Both suspects were charged with murder and booked into the Harris County Jail. Law enforcement credited the swift arrests to the coordinated efforts of homicide detectives and SWAT teams.

While the circumstances surrounding his death are heartbreaking, Jorgeโ€™s family and friends choose to celebrate the life he lived. Known for his infectious laughter, unwavering loyalty, and generous heart, Jorge brought joy and light to everyone around him. A devoted father, loving son, caring brother, and loyal friend, he cherished the simple momentsโ€”laughing with loved ones, supporting Houston sports teams, and being fully present for those who mattered most.

Jorge is survived by his beloved son, Jorge โ€œLJโ€ Arturo Gonzalez III; parents Jorge Arturo Gonzalez Sr. (Beatriz) and Misty Bartolomei (Jorge); sisters Amber Castro (Rick), Ashleigh Champagne (John), Alex Gonzalez, and Adriana Gonzalez; and his brother, Arturo Gonzalez. He also leaves a legacy of love through his nieces, nephews, great-niece, and grandmother, all of whom carry his memory forward.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 2516 Navigation Blvd, Houston, TX 77003, on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Though gone far too soon, Jorge Arturo Gonzalez Jr. will be forever remembered. His laughter, love, and spirit live on in his son and in the hearts of all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort, healing, and strength to those who mourn.
