CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Cheyenne community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 79-year-old John Lemmons, whose life was tragically cut short in a traffic collision on Thursday evening, January 29, 2026. The fatal crash occurred around 5:58 p.m. at the intersection of Powderhouse Road and East Riding Club Road, according to the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities report that an SUV traveling northbound failed to stop at a posted stop sign, colliding with Mr. Lemmons’ vehicle on the driver’s side. The force of the impact caused the SUV to roll, leaving Mr. Lemmons critically injured. Despite the rapid response of emergency personnel, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. The SUV’s driver and passenger sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
