In a harrowing incident of domestic violence, Vijay Kumar, an Indian-origin father, tragically shot and killed four family members, including his wife Meemu Dogra, at their Lawrenceville, Georgia, home. The incident unfolded on the evening of January 25, 2026, leaving the community in shock and horror.
According to authorities, the violent attack was sparked by a domestic argument, although the exact nature of the dispute remains unclear. Kumar, reportedly frustrated with his in-laws, escalated the argument into a fatal confrontation that saw him turn a gun on his wife, Meemu, and other relatives, including two of their children. A 12-year-old child, who was hiding in a closet, managed to call 911, alerting authorities to the horrific scene unfolding in their home.
When police arrived, they found the bodies of four victims, including Meemu, at the residence. The child who made the call was unharmed, but deeply traumatized by the traumatic event. Authorities believe the shooting was a result of an ongoing domestic dispute, though more details are still under investigation.
The community has been left in disbelief, with neighbors and loved ones expressing their shock over the violence that transpired. Domestic violence experts have pointed to the tragic situation as another example of how simmering familial tensions can erupt in violence, often with devastating consequences.
