Tragic Accident in Northwood: 15-Year-Old Symini Moore Killed, 18-Year-Old Arrested

Northwood, Ohio, is reeling after the heartbreaking death of 15-year-old Symini Moore, a bright and active Woodmore High School sophomore, who was fatally shot late Friday night. Police responded around 10:45 p.m. to the 3700 block of Lakepointe Drive, where Moore was found with gunshot wounds. Despite emergency efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities arrested 18-year-old Jakob Heintzelman, who reportedly claimed the gun discharged accidentally while he was cleaning it. Four people were inside the apartment at the time, including Heintzelman and his girlfriend, but tragically, Moore was the one struck. Heintzelman now faces reckless homicide charges and is being held without bond, as police investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.

Symini was a vibrant teenager involved in choir, sports, Future Farmers of America, and worked part-time at Grannyโ€™s Kitchen, all while maintaining strong academic performance. Friends and family are left struggling to process the sudden loss of a young life full of promise and potential. Social media has been flooded with memories, photos, and heartfelt tributes from those who knew her, expressing disbelief and grief over her passing.

The Moore family has also set up a GoFundMe to help with funeral expenses, highlighting the painful reality that a bright young life has been cut short due to a moment of carelessness.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of firearms and the importance of responsible handling. As the Lake Township Police continue their investigation, the community is coming together to mourn Symini Moore, honor her life, and seek justice for the teenager whose life ended far too soon in a Northwood apartment.
