Tucson Tragedy: 7-Eleven Employee Scott Dwayne Kennedy Shot Dead During Shoplifting Incident

In a shocking act of violence, Scott Dwayne Kennedy, a 47-year-old 7-Eleven employee, was tragically shot and killed during a confrontation with a shoplifter in Tucson, Arizona. The fatal incident occurred late on the evening of January 23, 2026, at the 7-Eleven convenience store located on the corner of Broadway Blvd and Houghton Road.

Kennedy, who had been working the night shift, was known for his friendly and helpful nature, often going out of his way to assist customers. However, his shift turned deadly when a male suspect, attempting to steal items from the store, became involved in a violent altercation with Kennedy. The situation escalated rapidly when the suspect pulled a gun and shot Kennedy before fleeing the scene.

Despite quick action from emergency responders, Kennedy was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds. The loss of the father of two has left the Tucson community in mourning.
