According to official emergency response updates from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and local public safety dispatchers, multi-agency rescue squads rushed to the commercial corridor off Parklane Road following urgent 911 reports of active gunfire near an apartment complex. Preliminary forensic findings indicate that a verbal confrontation inside a Shell Xpress Mart convenience store over false shoplifting suspicions rapidly spilled outside into a 130-yard foot chase, resulting in the store owner executing an unjustified discharge of a firearm that struck the fleeing teenager directly in the back.
