Pensacola, Florida – Jamariyan Vander, a 17-year-old student from West Florida High School, is recovering from serious injuries after being struck by an SUV while riding his electric longboard on the afternoon of January 22, 2026. The collision, which occurred near the school, left Vander with significant injuries, including facial and abdominal scars, a fractured leg, and a shattered longboard.

The incident took place just outside the school grounds as Vander was riding along the sidewalk near West Florida High. Witnesses say the SUV appeared to have struck Vander while making a turn, knocking him off his longboard and causing him to fall violently to the ground. The collision was so forceful that it resulted in the destruction of his longboard, leaving Vander severely injured.

First responders arrived on the scene quickly and rushed Vander to the hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. Fortunately, his life is not in danger, but the road to recovery will be long and painful. His leg was fractured, and doctors are closely monitoring his abdominal injuries.
