Former Brookside Actor Jailed for Role in Gangland Murder

A former Brookside actor has been sentenced to prison after lying to police about his involvement in a gangland murder in Liverpool. Brian Regan, 67, who famously played Terry Sullivan on the long-running Channel 4 soap, was handed four years and ten months behind bars after admitting he helped drive the gunman responsible for the killing but attempted to mislead investigators about his role.

The case revolved around the murder of 44-year-old nightclub doorman Bahman Faraji, who was shot at close range outside the Belgrave public house in Aigburth, Liverpool, in February 2011. The brutal killing shocked the local community and triggered a major police investigation into organised crime in the area.

During the investigation, it emerged that Regan had transported the attackers. He admitted to driving the gunman to the scene and later away after the shooting, but initially claimed he had no knowledge that the plan was to kill Faraji or that the men were armed with a sawn-off shotgun.

Police later proved that Regan lied about his knowledge of the plot and provided a false alibi, significantly obstructing the murder investigation. Jason Gabbana was later convicted of ordering Farajiโ€™s killing, while Regan faced charges for assisting those responsible and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
