It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ernest James McIntyre, affectionately known as “Tubby”, who left us on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the age of 63. In his final moments, he was surrounded by his loving family at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook.

Ernie’s life was celebrated by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Maggie; his children Joshua (Bailey) and Jacob (Andrea); grandchildren Alexander and Emily; step-grandchildren Amy and Chloe; and his siblings Peter (Catherine), Debbie (Dave) O’Brian, Danny (Doreen), Brian (Elsie), and Linda “Lou-Lou” (Gerry) Nuttall. He is also mourned by his in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and his beloved companion, Wally. He was predeceased by his parents, Allie and Shirley, and his brother Allie (Anne).

A man of remarkable intelligence and heart, Ernie delighted in music, singing, fishing, cooking, and celebrating life with friends and family. He loved the serenity of his cabin by the ocean, where he would relax and soak in nature’s beauty. His laughter, jokes, and infectious smile could brighten any room, even in challenging times.
