The Newry community and family circle mourn the loss of Maureen Gonnelly (née Murphy) of 117 Drumalane Park, who passed away peacefully on 12th March 2026 at Daisy Hill Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Maureen’s life was one of devotion, love, and family, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.

She was a much-loved mother to Catherine, Rosaleen, Martina, Priscilla, Aisling, Jacqueline, Ciaran, and the late Mary and Eileen. Maureen was predeceased by her parents, Eileen and John, and her sister, Rosaleen. Her deep care and unwavering support extended to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, and her siblings Terry, Eileen, Philomena, Martin, and Bernadette, as well as her extended family and friends who were fortunate to share in her warmth and guidance.

Maureen’s remains will repose at her home on Saturday and Sunday from 1–9 p.m., allowing family and friends to pay their respects. The family kindly requests privacy on Monday morning before the Requiem Mass, which will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. on 16th March in The Church of the Assumption, Drumalane, followed by burial at Cloughoge Cemetery.

Known for her kindness, devotion, and steadfast faith, Maureen’s life touched countless hearts. The family invites prayers for her soul and asks that all honor her memory through acts of love, compassion, and family unity.
